# Gift Cards – How They Work
## Overview
Gift cards in the system are designed to be simple to create, sell, and redeem. Businesses can configure gift cards as products in their catalog and sell them like any other item. Once sold, the system automatically generates unique digital gift cards that customers can access and redeem.
---
## Creating Gift Cards
To create a gift card:
1. Go to **Settings**.
2. Navigate to **Product & Services Catalog**.
3. Select a **category** where the gift card will be added.
4. Click **Add Product**.
5. Choose **Gift Card** from the list of product types.
Inside the gift card configuration, you can define the following:
* Gift card **name**
* **Value or amount** of the gift card
* Optional **points or real monetary value**
* Additional product details if needed
Once saved, the gift card will appear in your product catalog and can be sold like any other product.
---
## Selling Gift Cards
When creating a sale:
1. Start a new order.
2. Locate the **gift card product** in the product list.
3. Tap the gift card like a normal item.
4. The gift card will be added to the order.
5. Complete the checkout process as usual.
After the payment is completed, the system automatically generates the corresponding gift cards in the background.
For example:
* If **1 gift card** is sold → **1 unique gift card** is generated.
* If **2 gift cards** are sold → **2 unique gift cards** are generated.
Each generated gift card behaves similarly to a digital card and contains a **unique 16-digit number**.

## How Customers Receive Gift Cards
Customers can access their gift cards in several ways.
### 1. QR Code on the Receipt
After the order is completed, the receipt includes a **QR code**.
When the QR code is scanned:
* The user is taken to the **web page with the order details**.
* Inside the order details, there is a **Gift Cards section**.
* From there, users can view their gift cards and **add them to their mobile wallet**.
---
### 2. Sharing the Order
From the **Cutflow app**, you can:
1. Open the order that contains the gift cards.
2. Tap the **Actions button** (top-right corner).
3. Choose either:
* **Reprint the order**, or
* **Share the order**
When the order is shared:
* A **link or QR code** is sent.
* The recipient can open the **order details page** and access the gift cards.
---
### 3. Printing the Gift Card Directly
Within the **order actions menu**, there is also an option to:
**Print the Gift Card**
This prints the gift card directly for physical distribution if needed.
---
## Redeeming Gift Cards
To use a gift card during a purchase:
1. Create a new order and add the desired products.
2. Go to the **Checkout screen**.
3. In the **Payment Methods**, select **Gift Card**.
When selected:
* The device **camera opens automatically** to scan the gift card QR code.
* If the device does not have a camera, a **manual input field** appears.
In that case, the cashier can manually enter the **16-digit gift card number**.
### Recommended Flow
The recommended method is **QR scanning**.
If the customer already has the gift card stored in their wallet:
1. The customer opens the gift card.
2. A **QR code is displayed**.
3. The cashier scans the QR code.
4. The gift card value is **automatically applied to the invoice payment**.
